Our Estate
Our estate is located in Sala Monferrato, a small and characteristic village in the heart of Monferrato Casalese. Located on top of a gentle hill at about 264 meters above sea level, it covers 6 hectares, 4 of which are vineyards.
The soils of a calcareous-marly nature, white, light gray, or beige, rich in calcium carbonate, combined with the favorable exposure of our vineyards and low production yields, ensure the optimal conditions to produce wines of the highest quality.
Among landscapes rich in charm, which host viticulture and top-quality wine, we entrust our native vines to the best Piedmontese farming tradition.
The Monferrato Area
Our estate, Cascina San Pietro, is located in the lower Monferrato a hilly area that, thanks to the climate influenced by both the presence of the Alps and the sea, is an ideal area for the cultivation of vines.
The landscape, in fact, is represented by a mixture of hills and plains, but at the same time is home to wilderness, meadows, and woods.
These territorial peculiarities mean that, according to the seasons, the landscape takes on the most varied shades of colors, from the white slopes covered with snow in winter to the green plains, soft at first, gradually becoming more intense, to the hills dotted with chromatic spots of houses and crops, and the golden reds and yellows of the autumn vineyards.
Basso Monferrato
Basso Monferrato (or Casalese) is characterized by its soft hills that, with the exclusion of the Sacro Monte di Crea (455 m), never reach heights higher than 400 meters; territorially it includes the part of the province of Alessandria consisting of the countries that gravitate around Casale Monferrato, one of the historical capitals of this territory.
It is bounded to the north and east by the Po and Tanaro rivers. The territory represents a union between the hilly landscape and the plain that is characterized, respectively, for the cultivation of wine and rice. There are many castles as well as idyllic villages often characterized by the typical “Pietra da Cantone”.
