Decanter 2020: Nebbiolo and Barbera Uvamatris from Monferrato awarded

Decanter World Wine Award 2020 took place in a completely new way, but it rewarded Uvamatris wines. Sagitta and Nebula got their medals.

Decanter  World Wine Awards is the biggest wine competition worldwide and reached its 17th edition in 2020, in a historical context far different from the previous years. For 28 consecutive days 116 of the best wine experts in the world tasted in the dark 16,518 wines with amazing results: 178 Platinum medals, 537 Gold, 5,234 Silver and 7,508 Bronze.

Among the awarded wines, even Cascina San Pietro got its space: Nebula Nebbiolo from Monferrato and Sagitta, Barbera from Monferrato received a bronze and silver medal.

Italian wines get in second position in the global competition

Italian wines got the second place, behind France, with 2,765 medals with wines coming from Piedmont, Trentino Alto-Adige, Tuscany, Umbria and Sicily.

As per Vincenzo Arnese, judge in this competition, every year Italian wines get more and more interesting, with continuously improving quality and pleasant to taste.

The Excellence Award for Sagitta, Silver medal

2016 Sagitta got the silver medal in Decanter World Wine Award 2020 thanks to its unique taste, mixing vanilla, cherry and an aromatic bouquet of nutmeg. Its final score reached 90 points.

Nebula Nebbiolo from Monferrato, bottled in 2016, has already received other prizes (like the WineHunter Award 2019) and this 2020 Decanter is a further confirm of its quality.

With a score of 89 points Nebula gets the Bronze medal, thanks to its earthy and strawberry taste with a balsamic hint.
